TEXAID will run with Lausanne Marathon
What to do with all running clothes you no longer need? Place them in the TEXAID container! Large collection bags are placed prominently in the departure area of Lausanne and La Tour-de-Peilz. They will welcome everything that marathon runners want to get rid of at the start of the race: jackets, T-shirts, pants, shoes …
In 1973, six renowned Swiss charity aid organizations (SRK, Winterhilfe Schweiz, Solidar Suisse, Caritas Schweiz, Kolping Schweiz, HEKS) came together for the purpose of coordinating and optimizing their used clothes collections. Together with a private partner, they founded TEXAID Textilverwertungs-AG in 1978. Their aim: Professionally sorting and recycling used textiles. For over 35 years, TEXAID has combined economic activity with social involvement and ecological responsibility. Our services contribute towards the sensible recycling of valuable raw materials, and by selling the textiles we generate funds for renowned charity organizations. At our main base in Switzerland’s Uri canton and at our branches in Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary and Morocco, more than 1,000 colleagues meet their responsibility towards the environment, people and society by helping to give used textiles a new lease of life.
